Beginning in 1954, with the debut of Godzilla (ゴジラ / Gojira) Toho Studios began a massive franchise that has become one of the largest film franchises to date. Aside from Godzilla himself, Toho and all of Godzilla's original creators, offered up an entire pantheon of monsters, along with other special effects sci fi and fantasy films. Even though many do not actually feature Godzilla himself, and some are only loosely tied in with the main franchise, they're all worthwhile! Below, divided into various eras, are all of the films and television series that Godzilla has appeared in, along with others of Toho's roster that are of a piece - and many of which that are loosely connected - with the main franchise. The films are listed in order of their release dates, rather than necessarily the chronological order that they take place in canonically - with the exception of re-edits of the original Godzilla (1954) like Godzilla King of the Monsters (1956).
